An outstanding station - with characterful presenters and strong editorial content throughout the schedule; this is a station closely tied to its community. It showed confidence and originality in its output - it was an uplifiting listen. The ambition of the station was reflected in its programmes, its on air sound and the basic mechanics of radio production. From its idiosyncratic jingles, to its brilliant presenters - from the support of kids in its region, to its obvious love of music... it is not surprising that the station has had such a succesful period in audience terms. Basically, a wonderful listen!
Radio Nottingham should be congratulated on producing and broadcasting really important radio but without becoming worthy. It was entertaining radio which tied perfectly to its community. Particular tribute should be paid to 'One Big Night Out' which aimed to 'reclaim the city centre at night'. The station did not avoid difficult editorial content, from its coverage of the family pressures of dealing with a son with heroin addiction, through to local post office closures. It covered issues which were important to individuals and communities within its broadcast area. This was radio doing what it does best - talking to its audience as individuals, about things that matter to them. It entertained and informed - the best sort of radio.
This was a feel-good station which came very close to winning the group. The programmes showed great originality combined with a real sense of fun. Its pride in the area seeped through every link - this was a station which showed real passion for its region and its audience. It showed individuality throughout its output, from early morning through to late night - with the presenters and the audience making great radio together. And the charity initiative, Build a Dream, was not only moving radio, it was really important and tangibly of benefit to the families of the area. TFM's positive and confident attitude makes it an exceptional station.
