Lights Out London was essentially a simple idea, brilliantly executed. It involved all the station and had a significant visual impact at the time, as well as inspiring a long term call to action.
Stories as good as these just need to be told and BBC Radio Scotland simply allowed that to happen, without the intrusion of a presenter. This piece of radio was just stunning it was forceful, evocative and gave you the kind of impact which stays with you for a very long time.
This was bold broadcasting, bridging the generations as it told its story in both a moving and entertaining way. It was presented with a great sense of professionalism and brought understanding as it tackled a wide variety of issues... some of which were extremely difficult.
BBC Radio Sheffield's Good Neighbour Appeal was a wonderful example of radio at its best; coming to the aid of a local community in times of crisis.
Choice FM demonstrated understanding of their target audience through this campaign. With poignant interviews, sharp reportage of an unfolding story and that all important endorsement from key talent, Choice FM managed to vocalise the anger of young London at what was happening on their streets.
