John Cushing started his successful and diverse radio career at BBC Radio Norfolk in September 1994, as a presenter and producer. Two years later he joined 103.4 The Beach in Suffolk and, in his role as News and Sports Editor, set up The Beach newsroom from scratch!

John moved to the Essex Radio Group in September 1998 as Senior Journalist, working at Essex FM, Oasis FM and Ten 17 before joining London's Heart 106.2, as a news presenter on the drivetime show in November 2000.

In January 2003, John became Sports Editor of London's premiere talk radio station LBC 97.3 FM, and London's dedicated news station LBC News 1152. Highlights of his career at LBC have included winning the 2005 Sony Radio Award for the Best Live Event Coverage (The Boat Race) and presenting the Saturday afternoon sports show 'Scores'.

John is currently Deputy Programme Director of LBC and Executive Editor of Global Radio News, helping manage the Leicester Square newsroom for all the Global brands, and more than 30 newsrooms across the country.

In his spare time, John is a keen football fan (he's a season ticket holder at Norwich City) and loves music, from The Beatles and Kinks to Crowded House and Snow Patrol. He lives with his wife in Hertfordshire.
