The Sony Radio Academy Awards Committee is appointed each year, in consultation with the Radio Academy, ZAFER Associates and SONY UK, to represent the landscape of UK radio.
ZAFER Associates, who have produced and directed the Sony Radio Academy Awards, with the continuing support of Sony UK since their inception, maintain a dedicated Secretariat to provide the administrative infrastructure to support the Committee throughout the year. Each month the Committee meets to discuss issues such as the categories, judges, entry procedure and the event itself.
It’s a system that has evolved over the life of the event and which now sees these Awards positioned as a key element in the Radio Academy’s overall duty to encourage and to celebrate excellence within the medium.
As soon as one ceremony finishes, planning, preparation and production commences on the next. Categories are announced each November and the closing date for entries is towards the end of January in the following year. Nominations are usually announced 5 weeks before the awards ceremony itself, which is scheduled for the spring.
The 2008 Sony Radio Academy Awards will take place on Monday, 12th May 2008.
