
As Chief Operating Officer of new music and entertainment business Absolute, Clive responsible for all elements of the new brand identity. These include key product innovations, programming, talent planning and the development of a strong on air sonic and visual identity. He is introducing many exciting new talent and programming plans that put music at the heart of the leading commercial station's output (under 45yrs). As well as strengthening core daytime shows Breakfast and Drivetime, Clive's infectious passion for music is driving a reinforced commitment to more live music, a far greater playlist choice and a strong on-air sonic identity for the new station. He will oversee major digital initiatives including the launch of a music subscription service, as well as an innovative cross-marketing DAB plans for two digital stations.
As a founding member of radio investment and development consultancy Absolute Radio International (ARI), Clive oversaw all operational aspects of the company's activities. His radio expertise is recognised and in demand world-wide and he has consulted to a select number stations in Europe, Asia and (through an associate company Absolute & Dowse LLC) the USA.
At ARI, Clive championed the acquisition of 107.6 Juice FM, Liverpool in 2003. He had overall responsibility for Programming and Operations at the station between 2003 and 2005 and masterminded a 50% increase in total hours and a doubling of market share by the station in under two years. He also co-ordinated all licence application work carried out by ARI. Clive was named the fourth most influential person in the UK radio and music industry by the Sunday Times in April 2000.
Between 1995 and 2000 Clive was Group Head of Programmes at Capital Radio (now GCAP Media plc). Capital Radio's market capitalisation rose from STG£200m to over STG£1 billion during his time with the company. One of his many roles was to oversee the integration of all FM acquisitions which included BRMB - Birmingham, Southern Radio, Red Dragon and XFM-London.
Prior to heading up Capital's programming department he worked for eleven years at Chiltern Radio plc in the Home Counties, where he rose from being the youngest Head of Music in UK radio to Network Controller of seven market leading local stations.
He lives in Bucks with his wife and two children. Clive has an insatiable appetite for discovering new music and tips Iglu & Hartley & Sam Beeton as 2009 acts not to be missed. He is focussed on the station ambition to have more Sony award winning presenters than any other commercial station.
