
Until March 2009, Mark Story was Managing Director, National Brands at Bauer Radio. He has worked in radio for over 30 years having started as a 9 year old book reviewer Irish State Broadcaster, Radio Telefís Éireann (RTÉ). Recently he acted as organiser and Chairman of RadioAid, which registered the highest recorded audience for a single radio broadcast.
Mark began his radio career at RTE, then moved to Capital Radio in 1983 as Breakfast Show Producer where he helped devise and produced the long running Chris Tarrant Breakfast Show. In 1989 he joined Radio One producing Simon Mayo’s Breakfast show. In 1990 he was appointed Programme Director of Piccadilly, taking Key 103 from 5th to 1st in the market, and launching the award winning Steve Penk Breakfast Show. In 1995 he left to join Virgin Radio but returned to Emap three years later successfully launching Magic 105.4 and revamping Kiss 100. He remained MD of Kiss and Magic 105.4 until the end of 2004 when he was promoted to overseeing all Emap radio programming.
He is a regular contributor to radio industry activities and has consistently been a judge for the Sony Awards, New York Awards and Irish Radio’s PPI Radio Awards. He was elected a Fellow of the Radio Academy in 1998.
Mark is now establishing his own consultancy.
