Each year the Committee reviews the award categories. The changes that are made result from extensive debate and analysis within the Committee, taking into account the level of support the existing categories attract, along with general industry feedback. Therefore, there are no set parameters for the number of categories that are announced.
The Committee’s aim is to achieve the right balance of categories without overlapping or under-representing any areas within mainstream and specialist programming. This balance ensures opportunities for programmes and programming, production teams, individual presenters and stations to be recognised, irrespective of station size or resource.
